Participants travel with renowned experts on behind-the-scenes learning excursions, cultural tours, study cruises and more. Jason Wieland of New Jersey’s Department of Human Services will talk about the Deaf community’s shared values, beliefs, and visual means of relating to the world. The event will be ASL interpreted. This book talk series is based on Far From the Tree: Parents, Children and the Search for Identity. In his book, Andrew Solomon tells the stories of parents who not only learn to deal with their exceptional children but also find profound meaning in doing so.
