January Art at the Library
Our featured artists for January are both Maplewoodians. On our walls: Paul Gibson, Images. Harnessing principles of lighting, composition, contrast, and dynamic movement honed in his 30 year career in film & video, Paul peers into the breathtaking beauty of nature to create images that have been variously described as “painterly,” “dreamy,” “ethereal,” “serene,” – images which are a uniquely personal artistic vision.
In our display case: Suzanne Henning; prints on handmade paper. Suzanne sees beauty in the smallest of details in nature and in everyday man-made objects. The contrast and visual balance between coarse industrial designs and intricacies of the natural world appeal to her and play out in her work. She makes her own paper by hand to add a warmth and texture to her work.
A reception with live music will be held on
Saturday, January 5, 1:30 pm at Main Library
