Established in 1942, Friends of the Maplewood Library is a group of your friends and neighbors who have joined together to support the activities and programs of the Maplewood Memorial Library.
We are committed to:
Promoting and improving library services in both branches of our library, including materials and facilities
Advocating in the community for the maintenance of high-quality standards at both the Main and Hilton branches
Guaranteeing that the library has a strong base of community support
Raising funds to support library programs and enhance library services through membership dues, semi-annual book sales, tributes, and special gifts
How we help the Library
Friends of the Maplewood Library...
Funds major improvements to the library, such as:
Renovation of Memorial Hall
New adult circulation desk
Purchase of CCTV magnifier for use by the visually impaired
Redecoration of "quiet rooms" and Hilton meeting room
Sponsors the Children's Summer Reading Program, which is instrumental in bringing hundreds of children and teens into the library
Sponsors Adult Programs, including day and evening reading groups
Funds the purchase of reference books, large-print books, books-on-tape, art books, children's books, and media equipment
Provides funds for the professional development of the library staff
Presents special events and programs of interest to the community, including talks by local authors, musical performances, and children's programs
