American Classics Book Discussion Series
Starting Thursday, Sept. 3, 7:00 pm at Main Library. Brush up on your classics! Our book group this year focuses on American Classics, and is facilitated by Alice Crozier, retired professor of English, Rutgers University. The readings for our first meeting are In Our Time by Ernest Hemingway AND the essay “Fenimore Cooper’s Leatherstocking Novels”, from Studies in Classic American Literature by D.H. Lawrence.
“The items which make up the collection of “In Our Time” are not so much short stories, in the accepted meaning, as preludes to a mood, composed with accurate and acute finesse to converge in the mind of the reader.”
Copies of the essay are available at the Main Library circulation desk. More information about the American Classics Book Discussion Series
