Art & Music Reception

Main Library – Saturday, Jan. 14 @ 3 pm. Art by Danielle Masters and live music by America’s Sweetheart.

Danielle Masters is a mixed media geometric abstract painter and sculptor.  Her paintings begin with geometric designs and evolve with the use of paper cutouts.  The idea of using cutouts was inspired by Matisse and the Memphis Design Group. Masters uniquely places her abstract cutouts on top of her paintings like working a jigsaw puzzle.

The use of collage in her paintings helped fuel her progression to more three dimensional work.  The sculptures were originally inspired by Yoga poses.  They evoke the concurrent sense of movement and calm one feels in performing classic asanas.  Masters says, her work is about controlled chaos.  “No human can be perfect or controlled and that could be said about my art”.
