Maplewood Library to apply for Library Construction Bond Act Funding
On November 7, 2017, New Jersey voters approved the NJ Library Construction Bond Act, making $125 million available for public library construction throughout the state. The application process should open early in 2019.

“Maplewood Library is poised to apply for NJ Library Construction Bond Act funding at the earliest opportunity,” says Library Director Sarah Lester. “Our plan is in place for a beautiful, inspiring 21st century library, and we have strong support from the Maplewood Township Committee, the Library Board of Trustees, the Maplewood Library Foundation, and organizations and individuals throughout the community.”

Community Meeting: Presentation of Conceptual Design
Tuesday, September 26, 2017  @ 7:30 pm
Sage and Coombe Architects, who have been hired by the Maplewood Library Board of Trustees to design a Library for the Future,  presented their conceptual design to the public. The design was developed taking into consideration input from extensive meetings with focus groups, an open community forum and an online survey to which over 500 people responded. The architects gave an overview of the process, discussed design considerations, and presented their concepts for a library that will meet the needs of the community for  years to come. Free and open to the public. Registration not needed.

Your Library – Your Voice
The public was invited to a community forum with architects Sage and Coombe, who have been contracted to create a conceptual design for the Maplewood Main Library at 51 Baker Street. The library was seeking input from all Maplewood residents to help create a library that will meet the needs of the community for years to come. The forum took place on Monday, April 3 2017 from 7:30 to 9:00 pm at the Main Library.  Sage & Coombe also created a survey to solicit the public’s ideas on what they would like to see in a new improved library. The survey is now closed.
