September Art Exhibit

Alison Golder art

Main Library – Our September artist is Alison Golder.  “My work is largely inspired by my longstanding fascination with the consequences of time and nature on things. I am drawn to the quiet, understated beauty of eroded surfaces, weathered facades, worn walls, rusted metal, peeling paint. I am compelled by the subtleties of the surface – the depths of which invite a closer, more contemplative look.”

Originally from New Jersey, Alison Golder earned her B.A. from Colorado College and her M.F.A. from the University of Washington, Seattle. She has been awarded residencies at both the Centrum Artist Residency Program in Port Townsend, WA and Cummington Community of the Arts, in Cummington, MA. Her work has been exhibited nationally since 1993 and she has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors. Presently working primarily in the medium of encaustic painting, a background in both sculpture and printmaking informs the sensibility of her current work.

After thirty years, she recently migrated back to the “motherland” and currently lives and works in Maplewood.
