Designing Restorative and Transformative Justice Spaces: A Conversation on Collective Love and Design

With Dr. Juan A. Rios, LCSW, Assistant Professor, Director of Master of Social Work, Seton Hall University.

Dr. Rios will address the need for restorative and transformative justice spaces, highlighting the need for alternatives to traditional systems of justice that prioritize punishment and retribution, and that serve the needs of marginalized communities. He will discuss urban areas where efforts are being made to incorporate these principles.

He will also discuss the use of healing circles as a tool for transformative justice, how they have been implemented in Jersey City and Newark, and the impact they have had on violence interruption.
