Each summer the Library offers programs and activities for adults, teens, and children to encourage reading and excite curiosity. Register on Beanstack to log your reading and activities, and win prizes!

How It Works:
Register on Beanstack (SOMSD student email addresses won’t work here, so please use a different email address)
Join the Children’s Summer Reading Challenge
Come to the library and make a book mobile to hang in the new building on Baker Street
READ and WRITE to earn badges, free books and comic books, and to enter weekly raffle drawings for pizza, ice cream or baked goodies from local businesses!
Ways to Participate & Be Eligible for Prizes in Beanstack:
READING TIME: Click on the ORANGE Log Reading button, then click on Log Minutes, then click on START TIMER to start the reading timer
WRITING TIME: click on Add a Review. Under the book title, tell us what you wrote and how much time you spent writing.
For example, you can write TITLE: I wrote a story – 30 minutes
You can write a book review, a story, a comic, or whatever you want.
Prizes
Weekly Prizes: Read or write for at least 1 hour to get your weekly prize. Weekly prizes include: comic books, books, bookmarks, and notepads. You’ll also earn Beanstack Badges for the time you spend reading or writing. KIDS can start picking up their prizes the week of July 7th.
Weekly Raffle Prizes: Each week you read or write for at least 1.5 hours, you will be entered into the weekly raffle for a $5 gift card for Pizza, Ice Cream, or a delicious dessert. Raffle winners will be notified each week by email starting the week of July 21st.
Grand Prize: The top readers (the kids who spend the most time reading and writing over the summer) will be chosen by raffle drawing to win a $25 gift card to a Maplewood business of your choice! Grand prize winners will be notified by email.

The Maplewood Library uses Beanstack to facilitate our summer reading challenge. To join, click here to register. The Teen Summer Reading Challenge runs from Monday, June 16 through Saturday, August 9.
