[Virtual] How to Find Your College Essay Topic

  • Maplewood Memorial Library 1688 Springfield Avenue Maplewood, NJ, 07040 United States (map)

This event will be held as a Zoom webinar. As this date gets closer, a registration link will be added.

Unlike the essays you write for your English class, the College Essay isn't about Gatsby or Dickens: it's about YOU. The goal of this workshop is to help you uncover the thematic avenues that can help you share key aspects of yourself with admissions officers.

First, we'll go through some warm-up writing exercises to get the juices flowing. Then we'll discuss three of the most common essay structures, review samples, and practice how to brainstorm for them. Lastly, I'll give you my fool-proof checklist for selecting the right topic for you.  Come ready to think, write, and pair-share!

This virtual event is free and open to the public.
