RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

 

Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the Maplewood Memorial Library awarding contract for the construction of the new Maplewood Memorial Library.

WHEREAS, on April 4, 2022, the Maplewood Memorial Library Board of Trustees passed a resolution authorizing the construction of a new Maplewood Memorial Library; and

WHEREAS, on April 5, 2022, the Maplewood Township Committee passed a resolution authorizing the Maplewood Memorial Library Board of Trustees, as the lead agency, to construct a new Maplewood Memorial Library and to expend the sum of up to $22,000,000 for its completion; and

WHEREAS, the funding for the new Maplewood Memorial Library is available as follows:

$  8,388,250 from the New Jersey State Library Construction Bond Act

$12,075,000 from the Township of Maplewood

$  1,540,000 from private sources, including funds raised by the Maplewood Library Foundation; and

WHEREAS, the Township of Maplewood’s account for the construction of the new Maplewood Memorial Library  is C-04-21-017-000-102; and

WHEREAS, on June 16, 2022, the Maplewood Memorial Library received nine bids for the construction of the new Maplewood Memorial Library:

  1. $16,780,000 - Pal-Pro Builders, LLC

  2. $17,478,000 - Brockwell & Carrington Contractors, Inc.

  3. $17,850,000 - M&M Construction Company, Inc.

  4. $17,985,000 - H&S Construction and Mechanical, Inc.

  5. $18,410,000 - DMD Contracting, LLC

  6. $18,800,000 - Dinallo Construction Corporation

  7. $18,995,000 - Hall Building Corporation

  8. $19,067,000 - Niram, Inc.

  9. $19,550,000 - Shorelands Construction, Inc.

WHEREAS, due diligence was undertaken by a team assembled by the Maplewood Memorial Library including the Library Director, Sage & Coombe Architects, EPIC Construction Management, Maplewood Township Qualified Purchasing Agent, Maplewood Township Attorney and Maplewood Deputy Mayor; and

WHEREAS, on July 1, 2022, the due diligence team recommended the Maplewood Memorial Library construction contract be awarded to the lowest, responsible bidder, Pal-Pro Builders, LLC; and

WHEREAS, on July 5, 2022, the Maplewood Township Committee recommended to the Board of Trustees of the Maplewood Memorial Library that it accept the lowest, responsible bid from Pal-Pro Builders, LLC.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Trustees of the Maplewood Memorial Library that:

  1. Pal-Pro Builders, LLC, as the lowest, responsible bidder, is awarded the construction contract for the new Maplewood Memorial Library for the sum of $16,780,000.

  2. Sarah Lester, Director of the Maplewood Memorial Library, is authorized to sign the contract with Pal-Pro Builders, LLC, and other documents as needed during the construction period.

I, Katherine McCaffrey, President of the Maplewood Memorial Library Board of Trustees, do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a Resolution adopted by Maplewood Memorial Library Board of Trustees at a special meeting of said Board held on July 6, 2022.
