Ideas Festival 2016: Sheldon Harnick with Fiddler on the Roof Actors Adam Dannheisser and Mitch Greenberg

Monday, April 4 @ 7 pm at The Woodland, 60 Woodland Road in Maplewood.

Sheldon Harnick’s career began in the 1950s with songs in revues both on and off Broadway. With Jerry Bock he has created a number of memorable musicals, including Fiorello (Tony Award, Pulitzer Prize), She Loves Me (Grammy), The Apple Tree, the Rothschilds and Fiddler on the Roof (Tony).

Other collaborations include Rex, with Richard Rodgers; A Christmas Carol, with Michel Legrand; A Wonderful Life, with Joe Raposo; and The Phantom Tollbooth, with Arnold Black and Norton Juster.

He has written two musicals himself (Dragons and A Doctor in Spite of Himself) and contributed songs to the films The Heartbreak Kid, Blame it on Rio and Aaron’s Magic Village. Mr Harnick is a member of The Dramatists Guild and The Songwriters Guild.

Actor/Director/Writer Adam Dannheisser is currently starring as Lazar Wolfe in the Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof. He has had numerous film and television appearances over the last two decades.

Mitch Greenberg is an award-winning actor, songwriter and audiobook narrator.  A Brooklynite (surprise!) and crossword nut, he lives in Maplewood with his wife Irene and daughter Eve.  A member of Midtown Direct Rep, Mitch studied acting with Sanford Meisner, Uta Hagen and William Esper.  He’s currently in Fiddler… on Broadway, following It Shoulda Been You with Tyne Daly.  Other Broadway:  Hollywood / UkraineLaughter on the 23rd Floor, Threepenny Opera, Yiddle With A Fiddle and Marilyn, among others.   Off-Broadway:  Wiesenthal, Charles Grodin’s The Right Kind Of PeopleSherlock HolmesOld Wicked Songs, Baker’s Wife, etc.  Some highlights from around the country:  Freud’s Last Session, …Anne FrankBrighton Beach / Broadway BoundBeau Jest (Maplewood), Art”Talley’s Folly, The Cocoanuts, The Chosen (Paper Mill) and Run For Your Wife!
